John’s ministerial career (1980 - 1983) began at the Wiergate Church of Christ in Wiergate, Texas. He later became the Youth Minister and Education Director at the Fifth Ward Church of Christ (1984-1989) and Pulpit Minister at Northside Church of Christ and South Union Church of Christ (1990-1994). In 1995, he was named the minister at the Garden Oaks Church of Christ, where he has served faithfully henceforth. John holds an Associate of Arts from Southwestern Christian College in Sociology, Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Black Studies from the University of Houston, and an Associate of Arts in Bible from Houston Christian Institute. He has successfully acquired many creditable hours from Abilene Christian University and University of Houston for a Masters in Religious Education Studies and Public Administration, respectively.

John Tillman, Jr. is the second born to John, Sr. and Nadine Tillman in Houston, Texas. He was baptized at the young age of eight years old at the Fifth Ward Church of Christ, where his father was an elder for many years. John married the love of his life, Marcia LaVerne Crockett, and they are currently celebrating 32 years of marriage. They are the proud parents of John Paul, (Andrea), and Tabitha Elizabeth, who are truly the center of his heart. They have been blessed with two beautiful grand children, Rileigh Grace and Jamal JaMercy.

After leaving a successful career in sales at IBM, John became an owner/operator of local McDonald’s stores. My McBlessings Inc., the name of his corporation, is truly a testament of God’s promises of abundance and prosperity, having evolved into several stores. He has won several national and career awards, such as Rookie of the Year (McDonald’s-1990), Man of the Year (Women at Work for the National Capital Area- 2000), 100% Club (IBM- six years consecutively), and Golden Circle Award (IBM-two years consecutively). John Tillman, Jr. has always been in pursuit of excellence in ministry and professional endeavors. His commitment to God, family, and the betterment of humanity is reflected through his outstanding leadership. He enjoys dreaming and executing the effort to make those dreams come true.
